After teasing for over a year, the popular social messaging app WhatsApp finally launched its Dark Mode feature for iOS & Android users in March 3,2020.
How to enable dark mode feature on your mobile devices:
If you are not seeing the feature in your phone, you can try to manually update WhatsApp on your phone through the Google Play Store or App Store, depending on whether you use an Android or iOS Device.

Select ‘dark’

If you don’t see the option on your iPhone
Go to the App Store on your iPhone and download the latest version of WhatsApp (2.20.30)
Go to phone settings
Search display and brightness options,
Tap on dark to enable system wide dark mode.
Alternatively, you can go to the control center and tap on dark mode.
Why Dark Mode?
According to WhatsApp (which is owned by Facebook), the Dark mode offers a fresh look on a familiar experience. It’s designed to lower the eye strain caused in low light environments. And will help prevent those awkward moments where the phone lights up the entire room.
What more to expect from WhatsApp
According to a report, WhatsApp is also in the process of testing a new security feature that will allow users to protect their messages and media backups on Google Drive. Users will be able to use the feature by enabling ‘Password Protect Backup’ in the ‘Chat Backup’ section in the application settings.
